If you are running a business, let’s say a marketing agency or a software house, most of your data or business transaction commutes over the internet. This same data requires maintenance, management, procurement and security. The large amount of data stored is becoming larger day by day so much that you are running out of space and control. If you need this data to be secure and maintained then Cloud Services are probably what you need right now.
First of all, let’s see what cloud computing or cloud technology really means?
According to Margaret Rouse, Cloud computing enables companies to consume a compute resource, such as a virtual machine (VMs), storage or an application, as a utility — just like electricity — rather than having to build and maintain computing infrastructures in house.
Cloud computing is a web based service where the service provider controls and maintain your data without you making a mess over it by yourself. Cloud Computing services work dynamically meeting the needs and wants of its customers and allowing them full access of their data anytime anywhere through network. Cloud based services requires a service provider and not a dedicated server in your backyard. Because a dedicated server would require a huge sized mainframe computers and servers for it to work like cloud computing. A service provider manages your hardware and your software while you are given the easiest of task which is to deal with the front-end application.
A consumer who is running a small business or agency will most probably have a different type of cloud service available to them as compared to a huge corporation or organization. There is a different cloud solution for such businesses. Categorically, Software as a service (SAAS) in which a business has access to a subscribed application through internet. Or Platform as a service (PAAS). Where a business has access to build or customize their application and removes unnecessary work of software management, resource procurement and storage planning. Lastly, Infrastructure as a service(IAAS) where giant organizations plays the role of a backbone, providing services to other companies while providing networking features, data storage and computers(dedicated hardware or virtual).
The customers will be entertained with Cloud-based applications with all its frontend features available to be accessed from the cloud. With maximum load on the service provider and minimum on the customer.
Cloud Computing can be a risky business for many organizations as they are hesitant to place their data in public and because it costs heavily, but with new data encryption tools it has become relatively secure and dependable as a secure cloud solution.
